“Mona Lisa Smile” kicks off Feminist Film Series for 2005-06

APSU's Women's Studies Program and Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance present “Mona Lisa Smile,” the first of three movies showcased in the Feminist Film Series.

“Mona Lisa Smile,” will be shown at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 29, in Harned Hall, room 245. Set in 1953, the film depicts the time when the shifting political culture of America was on the verge of change. When Katherine Willis (Julia Roberts) arrives at Wellesley College, she is astounded to find a finishing school hiding behind the facade of educating women. Willis boldly and defiantly leads her students to demand more for their lives.

The film is approximately 1 hour, 59 minutes and is free and open to the public.
