On Sept. 5, 2003, Dr. Jerry Plummer, APSU assistant professor of economics was featured in a major article about credit card debt in The Leaf-Chroniclea result of a Local Angle from the Public Relations and Marketing Office. Jimmy Settle, writer for The Leaf-Chronicle, interviewed Plummer extensively about this growing problem and culpability of credit card companies that continue soliciting people already deeply in debt. On Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, much of what Plummer said to Settle was picked up off the wire and included in an article titled “Credit-Card Offers Not Always So Rosy,” in the national electronic publication CreditCards Magazine.

African American Studies director Dr. Nancy J. Dawson, who led students on an exploration of historical landmarks in Houston, Stewart and Montgomery counties, was spotlighted in the Thursday, Oct. 2 issue of The Leaf-Chronicle. Dawson designed the seminar to familiarize students with the role and stories of African Americans in the area's history.
