Longtime faculty member earns community service award

A longtime member of the Austin Peay State University faculty recently received the Clarksville-Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce Faculty Distinguished Community Service Award.

Dr. Ron Robertson, associate professor of chemistry, was recognized for receiving the prestigious award during APSUs Annual Honors and Awards Ceremony held April 22.
A longtime member of the Austin Peay State University faculty recently received the Clarksville-Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce Faculty Distinguished Community Service Award.

Dr. Ron Robertson, associate professor of chemistry, was recognized for receiving the prestigious award during APSU's Annual Honors and Awards Ceremony held April 22.

For several years, Robertson has conducted workshops and hands-on activities for more than 10,000 teachers, students and parents on all levels of education. Most notably, he serves as director of the Middle Tennessee Science and Engineering Fair (MTSEF), held for the last five years on the APSU campus. At the fair, he makes science fun via his character, “Labman.”

Robertson, who also was honored recently as an outstanding faculty adviser at APSU, has been a member of the APSU faculty since 1992. His bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in chemistry were earned at Vanderbilt University. -- Melony A. Jones
