Lady Govs steamrolled by Panthers

The women's volleyball team ran into a buzzsaw, dropping a 3-0 decision to visiting Eastern Illinois Saturday night in Ohio Valley Conference action.

Eastern Illinois (10-3, 2-0 OVC) won the matchs first two games with wire-to-wire victories. Austin Peay (4-9, 1-1 OVC) put up a fight early into game three, leading at 8-7. However, the Panthers scored the games next eight points, took a 15-9 lead and never looked back.

No Lady Govs player recorded double-digits in kills. Senior Julie Burkhalter led the offensive attack with nine kills. She also led the defensive effort with 19 digs. Austin Peay was held to just 33 kills in the three-game match, recording a .130 attack percentage.
