The Lady Govs (5-6) are coming off their second tournament of the spring, going 4-2 at the Mississippi State Bulldog Classic last weekend, including Sunday wins against Alabama A&M and Mississippi Valley State.

The Lipscomb Lady Bisons (5-4) recently split a pair of games at Tennessee State, 7-3 and 2-1. They also advanced to the championship game of the Bama Bash at the University of Alabama, falling 7-0 to host Alabama and earning second place in the tournament.

“Lipscomb is a tough opponent,” says APSU Head Coach Tara McCoy. “I am hoping we can take our pitching to the next level and our hitting can improve.”

Evansville (6-2) already has defeated the Lady Govs twice this season, 2-0 and 8-0, when the two teams met in the Auburn Tiger Invitational. The Purple Aces defeated Tennessee Tech, last season's Ohio Valley Conference champions, Sunday, with a no-hitter tossed by junior pitcher Katie Markle.

“We have played Evansville twice, but I think we are much stronger now,” says McCoy. “These next two games for us should be very competitive.”
