Lady Govs softball finishes third in War Eagle Classic

Boston College scored three first-inning runs and rolled APSUs softball team, 10-3, Sunday, in the semifinals of the War Eagle Classic.

The loss dropped APSU to 1-6. The Lady Govs, however, did finish in a third-place tie in the tourney. Meanwhile, Boston College moved onto play host Auburn for the title.
Boston College scored three first-inning runs and rolled APSU's softball team, 10-3, Sunday, in the semifinals of the War Eagle Classic.

The loss dropped APSU to 1-6. The Lady Govs, however, did finish in a third-place tie in the tourney. Meanwhile, Boston College moved onto play host Auburn for the title.

After falling behind 3-1 in the opening inning, the Lady Govs bounced back to make it a 3-1 game in the second on an RBI single by Tina Nickey. But Boston College came right back with four more runs in the bottom of the inning. APSU scored twice in the third on a Brianna Venable double and a sacrifice fly by Natasha Anderson. But APSU could get no closer.

The Lady Govs finished with seven hits, two by shortstop Michelle Edmonds.

The Lady Govs will return to action this Wednesday, Feb. 23, when they travel to Evansville for a 2 p.m. twin bill.
