Lady Govs soccer remains winless in conference play

Austin Peays womens soccer team remained winless in Ohio Valley Conference action, dropping a 1-0 decision at Morehead State, Sunday afternoon. Morehead State continued to make strides towards the OVC tournament, improving to 7-5-1 overall and 3-3 in OVC action. Meanwhile, Austin Peays hopes of a tournament appearance in just their third season took a blow as it fell to 6-7-1 overall and 0-4 in league play.

Morehead State continued to make strides towards the OVC tournament, improving to 7-5-1 overall and 3-3 in OVC action. Both team's played a person short after a player for both teams received a red card and subsequent ejection in the 24th minute. Then, in the 34th minute, Morehead State's Elise Wahlstrom scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal. That goal would be the only one allowed by senior goalkeeper Sarah Broadbent, who played all 90 minutes in just her second game back from injury.

The Lady Govs offense continued to be stymied in conference play. Austin Peay was outshot 13-9 by homestanding Morehead State but managed a tie, 5-5, in shots on goal.

Austin Peay returns home for a brief two-game homestand, starting with a 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 15, contest against league-leading Samford.
