Lady Govs picked to make top 10 in 2005 OVC Softball race

Eastern Kentucky has been picked to repeat as Ohio Valley Conference softball champions. The Colonels, who took home the regular-season and tournament titles last year, received 76 points and five first-place votes.

Jacksonville State claimed the other five first-place nods and 74 points for a second place pick. Tennessee-Martin is predicted to finish in third place with 64 points, while Tennessee Tech is selected to finish fourth with 60 points. Samford is picked to take fifth place with 51 points.

Rounding out the number six through 10 spots are Southeast Missouri (39), Eastern Illinois (30), APSU (25), Morehead State (19) and Tennessee State (12).

The 2005 OVC softball season begins on Feb. 8, and conference play starts March 19.
