Lady Govs held scoreless in invitational

Austin Peays womens soccer team is still seeking its first victory after battling Troy to a scoreless overtime tie, Sunday, at Heritage Park.

The Lady Govs Sarah Broadbent had 10 saves, including a game-saver in the second overtime when Troys Tara Petrucci launched one on a breakaway. Austin Peay (0-1-1) answered in the 120th minute, firing two shots in less than 10 seconds, both stopped by Troy keeper Laura Longard. The Trojans wrap up the invitational at 0-1-1.

Indiana State (2-0) finished as the invitational's only undefeated team after a decisive 4-0 win against McNeese State (1-1). Indiana State's Elaine Carlier and Nichole Tiggs each scored twice, with Tiggs picking up two assists as well. Throughout the invitational, the Sycamores posted eight goals.

The Lady Govs return to action with a 7 p.m., Friday contest when they visit Southeastern Louisiana.
