Iowa universities may go radical

Iowas three state universities may be forced to take radical actions, such as eliminating some academic programs and off-campus education centers, if they are forced to absorb additional budget cuts next year, university leaders told the Iowa Board of Regents.

State budget officials estimate Iowa faces a $300 million budget shortfall during the next budget year, which will likely result in cuts at the three state universities.
