The Austin Peay State University Institute for Global Security Studies, under the direction of Greg Kaufmann, recently became part of the Tennessee Homeland Security Consortium (THSC), which was formed in June 2004 with a signing ceremony in Knoxville by then-Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge.

In a Feb. 20 letter to APSU President Sherry Hoppe, John C. Doesburg, director of The University of Tennessee and Oak Ridge National Laboratory Center for Homeland Security and Counterproliferation, said, “Mr. Kaufmann and faculty from your university presented an exciting program overview to the THSC leadership.

“Subsequent discussions determined that the Consortium and its stakeholders would be well served by the inclusion of the unique homeland security resources and capabilities and the geographical regional coverage of the Austin Peay Institute for Global Security Studies.”

Other members of the Consortium are the University of Tennessee, Vanderbilt University, University of Memphis, East Tennessee State University, Tennessee State University and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
