Housing opens doors to halls of Hand Village

August 19, 2003

Students moved into residence halls one through four in Hand Village last week, while construction continued on buildings five and six. Students assigned to those buildings are staying at the Riverview Inn as they wait for the residence halls to be completed.

Joe Mills, director of housing, says the weather was the culprit. "We've had one of the wettest summers on record," he said. While inside work could proceed as scheduled, exterior work was put on hold by downpours or their muddy aftermath.

Some Freshman Experience courses scheduled for building 200 have been moved to classrooms in the Miller building. The two remaining buildings should be finished by the first of September, Mills says.
