Hoppe takes center court at Feb. 24 basketball game

In a special ceremony recognizing her service to the University and community and her impending retirement in July, APSU President Sherry Hoppe was honored Saturday night, Feb. 24, during APSUs basketball game against Morehead (Ky.) State University.

Given the traditional red blazer, Hoppe was inducted into the prestigious Red Coat Society. Then, on behalf of the Governors Club, Terry Griffin, president, presented Hoppe with some jewelry along with APSU logo jackets for her and her husband, Bob.

Mayor Johnny Piper presented a proclamation declaring Feb. 24, 2007, as “Dr. Sherry Hoppe Day.” Tennessee representatives Curtis Johnson and Joe Pitts presented House Joint Resolution 85 by which the General Assembly commended Hoppe for “advancements of monumental proportions” at APSU under her leadership and acknowledged her many contributions to the community.
