Cheryl Holt, volleyball coach at Austin Peay for the past 22 seasons, has been promoted to assistant athletics director.

Holt has served as special assistant to the athletics director since Dave Loos was named to the position in Spring 1997.

“I think this works well for our department, not only because of Cheryl's experience in this business but also her considerable experience at Austin Peay,” Loos says. “She knows how things work at the University and will be effective in this new role. Her knowledge and experience will serve us well.”

Holt came to Austin Peay in 1982 from the University of Miami, where she served four seasons as head coach. She previously served as head coach for one season at Ole Miss. Holt entered the 2003 season 26th all-time in career coaching wins (468, she now has 484). She also is 348-367 at APSU following this season's 16-16 mark.

Holt received consecutive OVC Coach of the Year honors in 1991 and 1992. She also earned back-to-back South Coach of the Year honors in 1986 and 1987 during the old North-South format.

In her APSU tenure, Holt also has served as head women's tennis coach (1983-85), head women's softball (1986-87) and assistant women's basketball coach. She helped initiate the women's softball program.
