Help an Elf deadline approaching

November 11, 2003

Make this a holiday season to remember for a family in need by signing up for the Help an Elf program in the Office of Student Affairs.

The program gives full-time students who meet the financial guidelines (but arent participating in any similar program off campus) the opportunity to receive help from the campus community in making their childrens holidays brighter. Parents have until Monday, Nov. 17, to submit their childrens names to the program.

Make this a holiday season to remember for a family in need by signing up for the Help an Elf program in the Office of Student Affairs.

The program gives full-time students who meet the financial guidelines (but aren't participating in any similar program off campus) the opportunity to receive help from the campus community in making their children's holidays brighter. Parents have until Monday, Nov. 17, to submit their children's names to the program.

In turn, Austin Peay organizations, offices, departments and groups volunteer to buy holiday gifts for the children.

According to Ann Reaves, risk management specialist in student affairs, organizations are asked to turn in their “adoption agreement forms” by Wednesday, Nov. 19, so they can begin assigning children to the adopting groups. Gifts must be purchased, wrapped, tagged and delivered to Student Affairs by Dec. 3.

Austin Peay's Help an Elf program has been a part of celebrating the holiday season on campus since 1994.
