•So you've heard about MRSA? Here are the facts:
• Staphylococcus aureus, also known as “staph,” are bacteria carried on the skin or in the nasal passages of healthy people.
• Any staph germ that gets into a cut or open wound can cause infection.
• MRSA is resistant to many antibiotics.
• MRSA can cause skin infections that look like a pimple or boil and often are mistaken for spider bites.
• Spread of MRSA skin infections is caused by close skin-to-skin contact, skin cuts or abrasions, contaminated items and surfaces, crowded living conditions and poor hygiene.
