GuitarFest 2005 comes to campus Feb. 14-17

APSU presents GuitarFest 2005 at 7:30 p.m., Feb. 14–17, in the music/mass communication building concert hall.

The Los Angeles Guitar Quartet will kick off the four-day concert series on Valentines Day as part of the APSU/Clarksville Community Concert Series.

Classical guitarist Philip Hii will perform on Tuesday, Feb. 15. Inspired by flamenco and jazz guitar, Hii is renowned for his stunning technique, lightning-fast passages, meticulous interpretations and ambitious programming.

The Los Angeles Guitar Quartet will kick off the four-day concert series on Valentine's Day as part of the APSU/Clarksville Community Concert Series.

Classical guitarist Philip Hii will perform on Tuesday, Feb. 15. Inspired by flamenco and jazz guitar, Hii is renowned for his stunning technique, lightning-fast passages, meticulous interpretations and ambitious programming.

On Wednesday, the University will host the Celebrity Fingerstyle Guitar Evening, featuring APSU Adjunct Professor Roger Hudson, Emmy-nominated National Fingerstyle Champion Pete Huttlinger and classical/fingerstyle virtuoso Andrew York.

The series will conclude on Thursday with a recital by guitarist Dr. Stanley Yates, APSU professor of music. Accompanied by faculty pianist Anne Glass and Professor of Percussion David Steinquest, Yates will celebrate his 10th year at APSU, performing Claude Bolling's “Concerto for Classical Guitar and Jazz Piano.”

The cost of admission for the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet (LAGQ) concert is $25 for adults, $12 for students and free for APSU students with valid identification cards.

The remaining concerts are free and open to the public.
