Govs' Wright named OVC Freshman of Week

Derek Wright, who scored 15 points off the bench in APSUs basketball game at Vanderbilt last week, has been named Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week.

In the Govs loss to the Commodores, the reserve point guard from Los Angeles knocked down six-of-nine field goal attempts (three-for-four from three-point territory) in just 21 minutes. He also had three steals and two assists in the game. Wright helped spark a second-half rally that saw the Govs go on a 14-1 run.

For the week, Wright had 18 points, going four-of-six from the three-point land.
