Govs outlast Eastern Illinois to go 2-0 in OVC

Anthony Davis scored 25 points, but it was two second-half three pointers by a walk-on that helped provide the impetus as APSU defeated Eastern Illinois, 68-54, Saturday night in Ohio Valley Conference play.

The victory puts the Govs at 2-0, 4-10 overall, and gives them their first two-game winning streak this season.

The victory puts the Govs at 2-0, 4-10 overall, and gives them their first two-game winning streak this season.

Senior Davis led the way, scoring 25 points on 10-of-19 shooting while grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out four assists. But it was redshirt walk-on freshman Ryan Isom who may have knocked down the two most important buckets—both three-pointers—of the game.

However, Isom was lucky even to be on the court in the second half. Late in the first half while attempting to take a charge underneath the goal, he caught a knee to the face that temporarily knocked him out. He took five stitches in his mouth from the kick.
