Picked in the preseason to finish fifth, the Austin Peay Govs scooped a share of the Ohio Valley Conference with a 76-64 win over Morehead State Eagles Saturday night.

It was the team's first OVC championship since 1996-97.

Holding the top-shooting Eagles to well below their shooting and scoring averages, the Govs pushed their record to 13 wins and three losses at home and 20 wins, seven losses overall.

With a victory over Morehead State's Lady Eagles, the Lady Govs became the fifth team in OVC women's history to boast a perfect finish of 16 wins and no losses at home, with 24 wins and three losses overall.

The 16-0 record marks the first time a women's team has enjoyed a perfect record since 1989-90.

The Lady Govs became the third team in conference history to go undefeated in OVC play, and their 19-game winning streak is the fourth-longest in Division I basketball.

The Lady Govs take on Murray State at 5:30 today in the Dunn Center in the first round of the OVC tournament. If they win, they'll play in Friday's OVC semifinals at the Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville, scheduled for noon.

Following the Lady Govs, the Govs storm the Dunn Center to play Eastern Kentucky. If they win, they'll advance to the OVC men's tourney, scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday at the Gaylord Entertainment Center.
