Funds received from international fee will support programs

With Austin Peay State Universitys emphasis on globalization and the importance of international programs, University officials added a $10 international fee to the general access fee for the first time in Fall 2007.

The international fee, charged to all full-time, main campus students, already has generated about $150,000 to support internationalization efforts for APSU.

The international fee, charged to all full-time, main campus students, already has generated about $150,000 to support internationalization efforts for APSU.

According to Tina Tarpy, coordinator of international education, $75,000 has been earmarked for student scholarships for study-abroad and exchange programs and additional funds have been allocated for the development of additional study-abroad and exchange programs and support for larger study-abroad enrollments.

Now, new grants are available to student organizations, University departments, faculty and staff to support the development of new international programming options. International students will benefit form the new fee due to additional support programs and opportunities.
