Learn a new skill with a course from Austin Peay's Center for Extended and Distance Education.

MCP & MCSA Training and Certification
“Comp TIA A+ (MCP)” is designed to give technicians at the entry level of the IT industry the skills they need to succeed. Recommended as a prerequisite for the MCP and MCSA 2000 class tracks. Classes meet from 6-10 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays Jan. 27-Feb. 26, at 106 Public Square, Clarksville. The course fee is $675, the textbook is $59 and the lab fee is $10. Register for three MCP classes and receive 15 percent off each course fee!

Computer Software Users' Training
“Microsoft Word Basics” teaches students how to explore the capabilities of MS Word. Students will learn to create, edit and organize documents; and make letters, tables, flyers and invitations. Classes meet 6-8 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 28-Feb. 11, at 106 Public Square, Clarksville. The course fee is $81, the textbook is $28, and the lab fee is $5.

Languages, Leisure Learning and Personal Development
“Sign LanguageBeginning” teaches the basics of conversational-level sign language including the manual alphabet, numbers and signed music. Classes meet 7-9 p.m., Tuesdays, Jan. 21-Feb. 25, at 106 Public Square, Clarksville. The course fee is $81 and the textbook costs $20.
“Conversational Spanish for Beginners” teaches the fundamentals of verbal
communication in Spanish. Emphasis is placed on the spoken language in practical situations and settings. Classes meet 7-9 p.m., Mondays, Jan. 27-March 3. The course fee is $81 and the textbook costs $15.
“Japanese Language and Culture” teaches simple phrases and travel-wise vocabulary while discussing daily Japanese life, traditions, religion, theatre, music and art. Classes meet 7-9 p.m., Thursdays, Jan. 30-March 6, at 106 Public Square, Clarksville. The course fee is $81 and the textbook costs $25.

Finance and Investing
“Making Your Money Work for You” teaches common sense tips and techniques for budgeting, investing, managing and saving money for the future. Classes meet 7-9 p.m., Wednesdays, Jan. 29-Feb. 19, at 106 Public Square, Clarksville. The course fee is $15.

Online Certificates in Graphic Design, Digital Design and Multi-Media Design
“Graphic Design Certificate Program” is a 12-18 month program that teaches students important design techniques, composition, typography, visual thinking and concept development. Courses may be started on any date between Jan. 15 and July 31. The course fee is $2,255.
“Digital Design Certificate Program” is a 6-18 month program focusing on digital media that teaches important design techniques, visual thinking, concept development, composition and typography. Courses may be started on any date between Jan. 15 and July 31. The course fee is $2,255.
“Multimedia Certificate Program” is a 12-18 month program that teaches the latest trends in multimedia design on the Web, in CD-ROMs or using Director, Flash or HTML. Courses may be started on any date between Jan. 15 and July 31. The course fee is $2,255.

Community Service Programs
“Motorcycle Rider Class” provides basic mental and motor skills for new riders. The course meets from 6-10 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. “Parents, Children and Divorce” is the state-mandated course divorcing parents with minor children are required to take before the divorce is granted. The father and mother do not attend class at the same time, and children are not permitted to attend. Classes are held in Clarksville on the Austin Peay campus and in Dickson at the Renaissance Center each month. The course and textbook fee is $30.
