Extended and Distance Education offers online classes for health care professionals

Health care professionals can gain the knowledge and skills needed to effectively care for a changing population with Austin Peays online certificate programs.

Students may choose from three online programs, offered June 16-Aug. 6, provided by APSUs Center for Extended and Distance Education and accredited by ALLEGRA Learning Solutions, LLC:
Health care professionals can gain the knowledge and skills needed to effectively care for a changing population with Austin Peay's online certificate programs.

Students may choose from three online programs, offered June 16-Aug. 6, provided by APSU's Center for Extended and Distance Education and accredited by ALLEGRA Learning Solutions, LLC:

•“Certificate in Gerontology” includes four core courses: “Introduction to Gerontology,” “Physiology of Aging,” “Mental Health and Aging” and “Healthy Aging.” Students also complete four of the following five courses: “Spirituality and Aging,” “Pain Assessment and Management in the Older Adult,” “Death and Dying,” “Sleep and Aging” and “The Older Woman.” The program costs $189.

•“Certificate in Complementary and Alternative Medicine” trains students to assist patients seeking alternative methods of treatment. Participants will complete eight courses: “Introduction to Complementary and Alternative Medicine,” “Introduction to Spirituality, Health and Healing,” “Cultural Competence in Health Care,” “Healing Environments,” “Bodywork Healing Therapies,” “Chinese Medicine,” “Healing Therapeutic Interventions” and “Ayurvedic Medicine.” The program fee is $199.

•“Certificate in Spirituality, Health and Healing” examines the impact spiritual and religious values, beliefs and practices have on health and healing. The program includes seven courses: “Introduction to Spirituality, Health and Healing,” “Spirituality, Religion, Culture and Health,” “Spiritual Care,” “Healing Environments,” “Spirituality, the Dying
Experience and Grief,” “Healing Therapeutic Inventions” and “Spirituality and Aging.” The program fee is $149.
