A crew from ESPN is on campus today to interview new Austin Peay offensive coordinator Ken Jones for an upcoming Outside the Lines segment.

Reporters for ESPN are interviewing Jones about Rich Williams, a former offensive lineman for Jones at Gardner-Webb.

In Spring 2002, the 6-3, 340-pound Williams walked away from what was potentially millions of dollars when he elected not to play in the NFL, saying his heart was not in the pro game. A sure early-round pick, he pulled his name from the draft list, instead electing to coach high school football and weight training in pursuit of the World's Strongest Man title.

“They already have interviewed Rich, and they asked him about someone they could interview about him,” said Jones, who was Williams' mentor both as an offensive lineman and in the weight room. “He picked me.”

In addition to the "Outside the Line" segment, a nightly news magazine, the story will be used as a SportsCenter feature.
