Enrollment dean honored for first-year experience

An Austin Peay State University dean is one of five semifinalists within the same institutional category recognized for working to improve the first-year college experience for students.

Dr. Harriett McQueen, dean of enrollment management and academic support, has been named to an honor roll of advocate semifinalists. The names will appear in a program for the 26th Annual Conference on the First-Year Experience, Feb. 16-20 in Addison, Texas.

Dr. Harriett McQueen, dean of enrollment management and academic support, has been named to an honor roll of advocate semifinalists. The names will appear in a program for the 26th Annual Conference on the First-Year Experience, Feb. 16-20 in Addison, Texas.

The National Resource Center for the First-Year Experience and Students in Transition at the University of South Carolina, Columbia, recognizes educators annually whose efforts have enhanced the college experience for students.

“Your nomination attests to the respect and admiration that you have gained for the creative ways in which you work to enhance the academic and social success of first-year students,” a letter from the National Resource Center to McQueen stated.

APSU President Sherry Hoppe nominated McQueen for the award. -- Melony Leazer
