English professor, published poet to read from his new collection

Austin Peay State University Assistant Professor of English Dr. Blas Falconer will read from his new collection of poems at 8 p.m., Thursday, April 19 in the Gentry Auditorium, located in the Kimbrough Building on the APSU campus.

Falconer is the author of A Question of Gravity and Light, a new release published in March by the University of Arizona Press as part of its Camino del Sol series.
Austin Peay State University Assistant Professor of English Dr. Blas Falconer will read from his new collection of poems at 8 p.m., Thursday, April 19 in the Gentry Auditorium, located in the Kimbrough Building on the APSU campus.

Falconer is the author of “A Question of Gravity and Light,” a new release published in March by the University of Arizona Press as part of its Camino del Sol series.

The reading, sponsored by the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts at APSU, is free and open to the public. Falconer will be available after the reading to sign copies of his new poetry collection. A reception will follow the event.

Falconer also is the author of a chapbook, “The Perfect Hour,” published last December by Pleasure Boat Studio.

In addition to teaching, Falconer is the poetry editor for Zone 3 Magazine and Zone 3 Press.

Falconer earned a doctorate from the University of Houston in Texas and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Maryland, College Park. He has received several awards for his poetry, including the Associated Writing Program's Intro to Journal Award, the Academy of American Poets Prize and the Barthelme Fellowship.
