Dave Eichelberger, assistant professor of accounting at Austin Peay, has been named to the Executive Committee of the National Board of Directors of The Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), the world's leading professional association devoted exclusively to advancing the managerial finance and accounting profession.

The 15-member Executive Committee, which serves in an advisory function when the entire board cannot meet, will gather at least four times in person, in addition to monthly conference calls, during IMA's 2004-05 fiscal year. Eichelberger, who is in his eighth year of teaching at APSU, also was named chair of IMA's National Committee on Students (COS). He previously served on IMA's Committee on Academic Relations and Committee on Ethics.

IMA made this appointment due to Eichelberger's care and concern for both his academic profession and, particularly, for his students.

Eichelberger currently is preparing for IMA's Fifth Annual Student Conference to be held Nov. 11-13 in San Antonio.

“This is a nice honor personally but, more importantly. it helps draw even more attention to APSU and our accounting students,” he said. “At last year's Student Conference in Indianapolis, APSU had 17 students there—the most of any school in the nation.”

Two of Eichelberger's students also have served on the IMA's COS.

With a worldwide network of 69,000 professionals, IMA is the world's leading organization dedicated to empowering managerial finance and accounting professionals to participate within their organizations to create economic value.
