Disability Services announces Disability Month Awareness activities

The Office of Disability Services at Austin Peay will host a month of activities in April in observance of Disability Awareness Month.

Those activities will include:

Tuesday, April 6
•The STAR Center Access Express will be on campus from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the University Center Plaza. Known as the STAR Center on wheels, the van provides computer access evaluation, employer orientations, assertive technology evaluations to those who are in need of these services but unable to access them on their own.

Tuesday, April 6

Tuesday, April 13
•Crystal Gilreath, coordinator of career services at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, will present a career-planning seminar at 1 p.m. in the University Center, room 308.

Tuesday, April 20
•During the Wheelchair, Blind and Crutches Challenge, students will participate in an obstacle course designed to help them understand the difficulties students with disabilities face on a daily basis. The challenge runs 1-3 p.m. in the University Center Plaza.

Tuesday, April 27
•To promote Campaign VOTE!, Lucy Du, a representative of the Tennessee Disability Coalition, will provide a seminar on the importance of disabled individuals voting at 1 p.m. in the University Center, room 308.
