The concert will start at 7:30 p.m., Monday, March 24 in the Music/Mass Communication Building Concert Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

The performance will feature music by Robert Muczynski, Olivier Messiaen, Jeffrey Wood and Mario Davidovsky. Singers and instrumentalists will include Lisa Conklin-Bishop, mezzo soprano, Anne Glass, piano, Patricia Halbeck, piano, Thomas King, tenor, Keith Nicholas, violoncello, Lindsay Rapp, soprano, Lisa Vanarsdel, flute, and Jeffrey Wood, piano.

The concert also will include “Three Poems of Pierre Reverdy” by Thomas Royal, the winner of the 2007 APSU Young Composer's Competition.

“Royal's ‘Three Poems of Pierre Reverdy' for voice, violoncello and piano is an exploration of the type of grim-sound worlds that can be created through the smallest notes possible,” said Wood.

Royal received his Bachelor of Science in Music Composition in 2005 from APSU. He studied under the direction of Wood.

Since 2006, Royal has been pursuing his master's degree in composition at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro.
