Cross country finishes at championships in Martin

Austin Peay wrapped up its fall cross-country season Oct. 30 at the OReilly Ohio Valley Conference Cross Country Championships on the campus of Tennessee-Martin. The mens team finished in eighth place, improving two spots from last years 10th place stand, while the women finished 11th.
Austin Peay wrapped up its fall cross-country season Oct. 30 at the O'Reilly Ohio Valley Conference Cross Country Championships on the campus of Tennessee-Martin. The men's team finished in eighth place, improving two spots from last year's 10th place stand, while the women finished 11th.

Senior Matt Duncan (29:51.51) led the way for the men, finishing the eight-kilometer course in 41st place. He was followed by freshman Josh Yeckering (30:41.06), who finished 49th. Freshman Matt Rowe (30:58.40) landed in the 51st spot followed by sophomore Jimmy Clark (31:33.12) at 56th and senior John Beamer (32:09.04) at 60th.

The women were led by senior Jessie Mills (21:13.86), in only her third meet ever, who finished the five-kilometer course in 38th place. Freshman Cherice Allison (22:01.57) followed Mills, placing 46th. Sophomore Denise Honea (22:31.61) finished 46th, just in front of freshmen Danja Yates (23:47.75) in 63rd place and Deanna Hensley (25:52.08) in 69th place.
