The University of Tennessee system will cut $38 million from its annual budget, officials have announced.

UT-Memphis was spared the most dramatic program and class cuts although interim chancellor Dr. Jim Gibb Johnson said there would be layoffs.

UT-Knoxville will eliminate 287 positions, including 47 that are filled, leave 57 faculty positions unfilled and slash 228 class sections, totaling 9,120 class seats, according to the report.
