Relatives of Katie Autry, a freshman at Western Kentucky University who was found beaten, stabbed and raped in her dorm room on May 4, have filed suit against the university for medical and funeral expenses, lost earnings and pain and suffering. The suit also asks for punitive damages and attorney's fees. In a statement, the university said it was confident that the facts will show neither its staff nor its policies played a role in the tragic event. "The person or persons involved in this crime are solely responsible for Ms. Autry's death," university officials said. Two Scottsville, Ky., men have been arrested and charged.
