Western Kentucky University and the company that licenses its mascot, Big Red, are suing Silvio Berlusconis Mediaset empire for $250 million. The university argues that one of Italys most popular TV shows ripped off Big Red and turned the mascot into Gabibbo. Middle Tennessee State University President Sidney McPhee is being sued by Tammie C. Allen, a former administrative assistant, for unfairly damaging her reputation after she accused him of sexual harassment. Allen's lawsuit, filed Feb. 13 in Rutherford County, also names MTSU, the Tennessee Board of Regents system, TBR Chancellor Charles Manning and the state. She is seeking an unspecified amount in damages, attorney's fees and court costs. (The Tennessean, 2/26/04)
