The newly appointed TBR Ad Hoc Committee on Budget Reduction Oversight will hold its first meeting Friday, Feb. 28, at Walters State Community College in Morristown.

The committee, appointed by TBR Vice Chair Jack Fishman, will be chaired by Fishman and includes selected board members, presidents, directors, and central office staff. The purpose of the committee is to review and consider the possible policy implications of the required 8.8 percent 2003-2004 budget reductions and to make recommendations for any required Board actions to implement new policies.

The agenda for the first meeting includes consideration of a new approach to tuition, incentives for early retirement, university enrollment limits, intercollegiate athletics, tuition increases, a capital funding initiative, review of actions designated for future consideration by the Defining Our Future initiative and the impact of the budget reductions on central office operations.

The members of the committee are Regents Fishman, Arles Greene, Stanley Rogers, Bill Watkins and Leslie Pope; presidents Paul Stanton, Sidney McPhee, Shirley Raines, Bill Locke and Nate Essex; director Lynn Elkins; and TBR vice chancellors Bob Adams, Paula Short, David Gregory and James King. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m., Feb. 28, and is open to the public.
