Austin Peay's department of communication and theatre presents Caryn West as part of the Fall 2003 Guest Workshop Series.

Her lecture will begin at 4 p.m., Friday, Oct. 31 in APSU's Trahern Theatre.

Working as an actress since 1978, West has performed on stage, film and television. Her accomplishments include leading roles in Broadway's “Crimes of the Heart,” Disney's “The Good Ol' Boys,” and several major regional theatre productions. She also has guest or co-starred on numerous television series, including “American Dreams” and “ER.”

West found success as a writer and director while attending the American Film Institute's Directing Workshop for Women. Her 35mm short film, “Here Dies Another Day,” won several prizes as an official selection in 23 festivals and qualified for Academy Award consideration.

Coaching since 1986, West has taught for Stella Adler's Academy of Acting and Theatres, Michael Howard's Studio and the School for Film and Television. She has been a guest lecturer at Syracuse University, the American Conservatory Theatre and the University of California, Irvine.
