Brass Ensemble to take the stage for upcoming show

The Austin Peay State University Department of Music and the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts will sponsor a brass ensemble concert.

The APSU Brass Quintet will perform at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 18 in the Music/Mass Communication Building Concert Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.

The APSU Brass Quintet will perform at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 18 in the Music/Mass Communication Building Concert Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.

Under the direction of Dr. Richard Steffen, professor of music, the trumpet ensemble will perform first. Steffen, who is active as a professional trumpeter in Nashville, has performed with many traveling entertainers such as Johnny Mathis, Liberace, The Spinners and The Temptations. He also will direct the APSU Brass Quintet, which will finish the concert.

The horn ensemble will follow, directed by Francis Massinon, professor of music. He plays the French horn and has been a frequent recitalist and adjudicator at several universities. He has appeared as a featured soloist with the Austin Peay Brass Ensembles and Woodwind Ensembles.
