Austin Peay baseball coach Gary McClure has been reinstated after a recent suspension. He resumed his head coaching duties during the second game of Saturday's Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader with Southeast Missouri.

Last week, McClure was suspended following his ejection and subsequent behavior at Murray State. He missed both weekday non-conference games at Vanderbilt and Middle Tennessee. The suspension included an OVC-mandated one-game conference suspension, which was during Saturday's first game. The OVC suspension resulted from McClure being ejected for a second time this season.

“Gary understands that the un-sportsmanlike conduct and actions displayed following his ejection were inappropriate and will not be tolerated," said Athletics Director Dave Loos. "Gary also understands the conditions of his reinstatement, which includes this three-game suspension.

"He met with the baseball team this week and apologized for his behavior and has displayed sincere remorse for his actions. We expect our coaches to set a positive example for our student-athletes in how to conduct themselves.”
