Austin Peay rifle opens season

Austin Peay's women's rifle team opened up its 2004-05 season by finishing fourth at the 11th annual Lady Govs Invitational last Saturday, Oct. 2.

The Lady Govs posted a score of 2,195 in the five-team meet, in which teams competed in air rifle only. Tennessee-Martin's co-ed team won the event with a score of 2,240.

Junior Corey Hasty and freshman Kimberly Howard each posted scores of 566. However, Hasty recorded 24 center shots, while Howard hit just 20 centers, while finishing fourth and fifth among the 22-person field, respectively. Junior Molly Thomas (533) finished 17th and sophomore Jessica Benson (530) finished 18th.

Austin Peay returns to action when its hosts Morehead State in a dual meet, Saturday, Oct. 9.
