The American Chemical Society (ACS) Student Affiliates chapter at Austin Peay was one of just 24 nationwide selected to receive an "Outstanding" designation from the American Chemical Society for its activities during the 2000-2001 academic year. With word of the award announced in "Chemical & Engineering News" magazine, the honor brings winning chapters as well as the University national recognition. Austin Peay student members of the society will be recognized at the 223rd ACS National Meeting in Orlando, Florida, Sunday, April 7, 2002. "Professors Ron Robertson and Todd Lafrenz deserve special commendation for their commitment of time and energy," said Attila E. Pavlath of the American Chemical Society.
