Sophomore Kamaria Alexander led the Austin Peay State University volleyball team both offensively and defensively and has earned the season's first Austin Peay State University Athlete of the Week award for her efforts.

Alexander — who was named the Ohio Valley Conference's Defensive Player of the Week— led the Lady Govs in kills (25) and digs (51) during the volleyball squad's season-opening weekend. She recorded a double-double, a 10-kill, 21-dig effort against Lipscomb in the season opener. She followed that with a 15-kill, 30-dig double-double effort against Evansville.

The Fort Wayne, Ind., native moved into the starting outside hitter role after serving as a backup her freshman year. She had just six kills and 86 in 18 matches played in 2004.
