Set in the Golden Age of Merry Olde England when Robin Hood dwelt in Sherwood Forest, England was divided between conquering Norman and defeated Saxon, a little known scribbler named William Shakespeare wrote a satire on pastoral comedy, the popular culture of his time.
Perceiving that pastoral comedy was doing for drama, what the greeting card industry was doing for poetry, and in a vain bid to cash in on his fame and make some real money, Shakespeare ditched his follow-up to “Hamlet,” “Hamlet IIA Great Dane's Revenge,” for a simple tale of boy meets girl who runs off to be a boy under the Greenwood.

Cooper says, “Matching Bill the Bard's love/hate for all things fashionable has been invigorating to say the least. As we filled our nostrils with the dust of the bye-ways of popular culture, we were determined to present ‘As You Like It' as it was intendedrip-roaring culture roast in the tradition of The Goons, Monty Python and Eddy Izzard.”

Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for students and children, and $3 for groups of 10 or more. Tickets are available 3-5 p.m., Monday-Friday in the Trahern Theatre Box Office, Room 224.
