APSU presents award-winning poet and alum Jeff Hardin

APSUs Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts presents Jeff Hardin, award-winning poet and alumnus, who will read from his new book, Fall Sanctuary, at 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 14, in the Gentry Auditorium, Kimbrough Building. A reception and book signing will follow.

There also will be an informal discussion at 11:10 a.m., Sept. 14, in Harned Hall, room 307.

Hardin, a creative writing scholarship recipient through the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts, says, “I applied to APSU because the Center brings in so many famous poets and writers. I looked forward to being able to study under so many critically acclaimed writers and to go to their readings.”

He earned a B.S. in English from APSU in 1990 and an M.F.A. in Poetry from the University of Alabama in 1993, where he twice received the Academy of American Poets Award.

Hardin also received the prestigious Nicholas Roerich Poetry Prize, judged by famous American poet, Mark Jarman. Hardin's manuscript took top honors among almost 1,000 competitors. He currently teaches at Columbia State University.
