APSU music department to feature guitarist, Yates

The Austin Peay State University Department of Music and the Center of Excellence for Creative Arts will sponsor a concert featuring music from a world-renowned guitarist and faculty member.

Dr. Stanley Yates, professor of music, will perform at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 21 in the Music/Mass Communication Building Concert Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.
The Austin Peay State University Department of Music and the Center of Excellence for Creative Arts will sponsor a concert featuring music from a world-renowned guitarist and faculty member.

Dr. Stanley Yates, professor of music, will perform at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 21 in the Music/Mass Communication Building Concert Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.

Yates has presented concerts, masterclasses and lectures at colleges, festivals, universities and conservatories throughout the U.S. and Europe, including the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and the Royal Academy of Music, London.

He will present a program of solo guitar music from South America and Western and Eastern Europe, including his arrangement for guitar of virtuoso violin music by Fritz Kreisler, a contemporary works by Argentine composer Alberto Ginastera and Cuban composer Leo Brouwer.
