The Friday Night Concert Series at Austin Peay kicks off with a performance by the grand-prize winners of the 2004 Nashville Grammy Showcase.

Big Fella, an established rapper, and Te'Arthur, a powerful soul singer, will perform live in concert at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 24, at University Center Plaza, APSU.

The duo's feel-good blend of hip-hop and R&B (with a generous touch of rock and reggae) has made them one the most talked-about new bands. Recently they were nominated in the hip-hop/contemporary R&B category of the Nashville Scene Music Awards. Already, they've worked with Snoop Dogg and performed with Kanye West, Nappy Roots and Bubba Sparxxx.

Big Fella and Te'Arthur combine with Donald “Duck” Phillips and the Throwback Soul Band to create a unique sound that embraces cutting-edge rhythms, raps and vintage Motown vibes. They won the hearts and votes of fans and judges at 2004's Nashville Grammy Showcase, hosted by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. Competing with the best musicians in all genres, the band came out on top and have been heading that direction ever since.

Admission is free. The concert is being sponsored by Austin Peay's Office of Student Life and Leadership.
