Austin Peay's music department presents a concert featuring the Jazz Collegians and the Jazz Combo.

Set up as a standard big band, the Jazz Collegians' performance will include brass, saxophone and rhythm sections. The group will perform rock 'n' roll, Latin and swing pieces under the direction of Professor of Music Richard Steffen.

The Jazz Combo, which includes a trumpet, flugelhorn, baritone saxophone and a rhythm section, will present several types of jazz, including Rod McGaha's “Cookout,” which verges on rock ‘n' roll, and the New Orlean's street beat of Jeff Coffin's “Tall and Lanky.”

“Under the broad umbrella of jazz, there are several styles of music,” says Professor of Music David Steinquest, Jazz Combo director. “A nice variety of tunes allows for student education and audience entertainment.”

The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in APSU's music/mass communication building concert theatre. The concert is free and open to the public.
