APSU to host Junior Govs Summer Camp for area children

Registration for the Junior Govs Summer Camp from May 29-Aug. 3 at Austin Peay State University is under way.

Designed for children ages 6-12, the day camp is a comprehensive program to promote healthy lifestyles among school-age children so they will continue to stay active.

All activities will take place on Austin Peays campus. Activities will include daily arts and crafts and various physical activities, both indoor and outdoor.

Also, guest speakers from APSU and the Clarksville community will talk to campers about safety, health, culture and other topics.

All activities will take place on Austin Peay's campus. Activities will include daily arts and crafts and various physical activities, both indoor and outdoor.

Also, guest speakers from APSU and the Clarksville community will talk to campers about safety, health, culture and other topics.

Swimming will be available every day and supervised closely by certified lifeguards and camp staff. There will be an opportunity for each camper to participate in beginner swim lessons for an additional weekly fee of $30. All staff are certified in child CPR and first aid.

Daily camp programs will begin at 9 a.m. Drop-off will be at 7:30 a.m., with dismissal at 3:45 p.m. There is an additional fee of $20 for parents or guardians who need early drop-off or late pick-up service for their children.

The cost of the camp is $120 per week. The price includes a daily lunch, biweekly field trips and a camper T-shirt.

Parents or guardians will need to register their child to participate in the Junior Govs Summer Camp. In addition, parents must attend an orientation at 6 p.m., either May 22 or 23 at the Foy Fitness and Recreation Center.
