APSU honors profs, students at Academic Honors and Awards Day

Faculty and students will be honored for academic excellence at Austin Peays Academic Honors and Awards Day.

The event will take place at 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 21, in the music/mass communication building concert theatre.

This year, students and faculty will see a revitalization of the Academic Honors and Awards Day ceremony, says Inga Filippo, chair of the Honors and Awards Committee. We have added elements that we believe will make the ceremony more special for the honorees and their guests.

The three most prestigious faculty awards—the Richard M. Hawkins Award for noteworthy contributions to scholarship or creative activity, the Distinguished Professor Award and the Distinguished Community Service Award—will be presented during the Academic Honors and Awards Day ceremony.

In addition, the ceremony will include live music, the presentation of departmental awards and the individual recognition of the University's Honors students, each of whom will receive a newly created Academic Honor Student lapel pin.

Approximately 140 awards will be presented during the ceremony. The celebration will conclude with a reception in the foyer.
