Austin Peay's art department presents a lecture by associate professor of graphic design and illustration Billy Renkl, as a kickoff of the 2003-04 Faculty Lecture Series.

Renkl's presentation will begin at noon, Thursday, Sept. 18 in the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center auditorium, Clarksville.

Renkl, whose illustrations have been published in numerous national publications and displayed in a variety of exhibitions, specializes in collage illustration and mixed-media drawing. His commercial clients include Southwest Airlines and Vanderbilt University.

“Artists' talks are always interesting to me, and I hope my talk will be interesting to anyone who's found my work engaging. I suppose a lot of people prefer to let the work speak for itself, and I certainly hope my work does. But if you're interested in why I do what I do or how I arrived at it, this is an opportunity to ask questions,” says Renkl.

Renkl has an upcoming show opening Sept. 13 at the Cumberland Gallery in Nashville.
