An important deadline is fast approaching for faculty at Austin Peay.

Dr. Timothy Sweet-Holp, director of grants and sponsored programs, wants to alert faculty who plan to apply for Tower Research Funds that the deadline for proposals is 4:30 p.m., Monday, April 7.

According to Sweet-Holp, the major criteria state that a proposed project must be “research,” as defined by the Research Committee of the Graduate and Research Council. Based on that, research is “an organized effort to create or to discover new knowledge, to interpret such and to make it available in language appropriate to the field concerned.”

All tenured faculty members (or those considered by the administration to be suitable for tenure) are eligible to receive grants. If a person has made no progress toward completing a project already funded with Tower money, he or she is ineligible to be considered for additional award.

Applications are available from the Office of Grants and Sponsored Programs, Browning room 212, from the Web site at www.apsu.edu/grants or from any member of the Research Committee, which is comprised of:

Dr. Michael Schnell, chair of the committee, languages and literature
Dr. Anne Black, health and human performance
    Dr. Margaret Deitrich, education
Dr. Larry Hoehn, mathematics and computer science
    Professor Billy Renkl, art
    Dr. Robin Reed, chemistry
    Dr. Roger Clark, accounting
Dr. Timothy Sweet-Holp, Grants and Sponsored Programs Office (ex officio)
