Computer Software Users Training

“Microsoft PowerPoint XP Basics” is a hands-on course that explores the fundamentals of PowerPoint presentation software. Some experience in word processing and Windows 95-98 or 2000 is necessary. Classes run 6-8 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, Sept. 15-29, at 106 Public Square, Clarksville. The course fee is $81, the lab fee is $5 and the textbook costs $23.

“Online Certificate in Gerontology” is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of individuals who work with older adults in the areas of nursing, teaching, service, administration and research. The course runs from Sept.17-Oct. 24. The course fee is $189.

“Online Certificate in Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM)” teaches students a broader understanding of alternative health-care options. The course is relevant for RNs, LPNs, physicians, therapists, educators, counselors, clergy and other health-care professionals. The course runs from Sept. 17-Oct. 24. The course fee is $199.

“Online Certificate in Spirituality, Health and Healing” is designed to meet the needs of health-care professionals who work with diverse religions and spiritual populations. The course runs from Sept. 17-Oct. 24. The course fee is $149.

“Paralegal Prep” is a six-part training program that prepares people to work in a law office. The basic skills needed by paralegal support staff are explored in each course.

Paralegal Prep courses 1-6 each run from Sept. 17- Oct. 24. The fee for each course is $150.

Languages, Leisure, Learning and Personal Development

“Sign LanguageBeginner, Part 1” teaches the basics of conversational-level American Sign Language such as the manual alphabet, finger spelling and deaf culture. Two sections run Sept 18-Oct. 23. The first section meets from 7-9 p.m., Thursdays, in Clement, Room 132 at APSU. The second section meets from 10 a.m.-noon, Thursdays, at 106 Public Square, Clarksville. The course fee is $64 and the textbook costs $35.

“Conversational French” explores the fundamentals of verbal communication in French with emphasis on the spoken language in practical situations and settings. Classes meet from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Thursdays, Sept. 18- Oct. 23, at 106 Public Square, Clarksville. The course fee is $81 and the textbook costs $25.

Community Service Programs

“Motorcycle: Basic Rider Course” provides basic mental and motor skills for new riders. The course meets from 5:45-10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 20 and 21 at the APSU Armory Building, Room 110. “Parents, Children and DivorceMontgomery County” is the state-mandated course divorcing parents with minor children are required to take before the divorce is granted. The father and mother do not attend class at the same time, and children are not permitted to attend. The class runs from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 20, in Clement, Room 132 on the APSU campus.
